Let's Be Friends @shanine.dennill
  • Loss was my first teacher. Yoga became the next.

Loss touched my life early - my grandfather, my father, a close friend, and even witnessing violence in South Africa where I was born. These experiences left me with deep questions about life and death. 🌙

Through embracing death, witnessing impermanence, and being in the liminal spaces between endings and beginnings, I’ve discovered that my deepest devotion is to live fully - with presence and wonder. ✨

Yoga has been my guide on this path. Its ancient wisdom has shaped how I move, teach, and live. My classes flow with creative sequencing, but beneath the movement is always the wisdom of the heart and the teachings that give it depth. 💫

Awaken to Sacred Remembrance is the thread woven through everything I share - an invitation to remember who you truly are and to see the magic that shimmers through all of life (and even death). 🌿

I’ve walked many paths - from the corporate world to studio owner, teacher, student, hospice guide, and trainer of teachers. Each step has revealed that stillness and presence open us to wholeness. 🌸

Today, my work weaves together tantra yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda. My heart is in creating spaces where we can move, rest, and remember the sacredness of life - whether that’s in the stillness of a practice, the hum of bees in summer, or the quiet beauty of nature itself. 🌞🐝🌿

  • Coldplay under a near full moon 🌕
A little late posting this… I went off camping right after.

But this night… wow. 💛
Coldplay was incredible - lights, fireworks, sound, fun, sweet moments, heart wide open. Coldplay is one of my favourite bands.

And with this #aussie man.
Someone who’s not into yoga 🤣, but lives with integrity, is authentic, kind, steady, and generous.

#coldplay #magicnight #gratefulheart #summermoments #realones
  • We’re conditioned to fill our lives - with doing, achieving, competing. And this can spill into our spiritual journey.

For so long, my path had been about seeking more profound experiences, deeper awakenings, grander moments of transcendence.

Perhaps I needed all of these extreme spiritual experiences to arrive to what I now recognize:
The quiet beauty of simply being.
The sacredness in stability.
The light that moves through the ‘ordinary’ when we stop grasping for the ‘extraordinary’.
There is an emptiness that is not lack, not numb, but full.
A heart that is still, spacious, and already whole.
This is the fullness of an empty heart.

Listen.
Be.

✨ Read the full reflection in my latest Journal, via the link in my bio.

Inspired by Miten’s words “Empty Heart”.
Also, take a listen to the Heart Sutra.

  • Reflecting on a beautiful night attending @devapremalmiten .

Here are some highlights and moments that moved me (with the pictures):

1. Going with this amazing group of souls from @inye.yoga filled my heart with joy.
2. The recognition that I’m in a different place on my spiritual journey - one rooted in devotion to life itself, in the mystery and wonder of every moment (play). No longer seeking grandiose awakenings and teachings, but savouring the sacred in the “simple”.
3. I unexpectedly bumped into a student from @movati.burlington . She once gave me a handmade Christmas gift. When I asked her about it, she told me she makes socks for the homeless every year. Her quiet devotion touched me deeply at that time when I felt I had lost something. It was during a period when a former teacher of mine tried to justify unethical actions. Through her example and that chapter of my life, I realized that our greatest teachers can be the ones sitting quietly beside us. Our teachers are also the ones who disappoint us.
4. The smoke in the lighting was stunning in this moment - and the story behind his guitar, with his parents’ ashes woven into it, added such depth and soul.
5. Always a gift to see @mystic_marker33 from @movati.burlington .
6. One of the first mantras I ever learned (18 years ago) was from Deva Premal, and hearing it again brought me full circle.

No pictures, but also great to bump into @psychic_steph_speaks and @withlovedebra

Grateful for this night. Grateful for the path.

  • Stability gives softness a place to land.

In relationship, when I’m met with presence, steadiness, and care, that strength allows my heart to greet the other with openness.

Lately, I’ve been feeling the quiet bliss of this dynamic (in myself and in relationship with another).

I love slower practices with presence and care — but I’ve sped up the video for the sake of flow.
Blocks aren’t just about making a pose more accessible — they can build strength and awareness.

When I extend the bottom arm forward, using the block, a beautiful dynamic unfolds:
an internal anchoring and strengthening through the lower side that allows the upper side of the torso to expand with grace and strength.

The openness and expansion above are amplified by the strength and support below — internally in the body, externally with the block.

Here, I find the centre. The centre of relationship.
