My favourite place in the world… in my favourite forest. Where I’ve spent an hour or two almost every day this summer … during the day, while raining, and sometimes during golden hour (sunsets - MAGICAL).

As I was walking the trail the other day, I wanted to find a secluded spot off the regular path, by the river, to sit and eat my lunch. This is the spot in the video.

Getting off the main path, reminded me of my EMDR experience I recently had…. Sometimes we have to do something completely different to see things in a new way.

This was one of the most challenging (and healing) trips I’ve ever done.

Just got back from our annual Killarney trip. Every time I go, I’m reminded why it’s become something of a pilgrimage. I always leave with more perspective, more gratitude, and a deeper appreciation for how resilient the body and mind can be.

One day we hiked six hours with 33 lb backpacks, scrambling over boulders and climbing The Crack before making our way through the heat to our campsite. It was exhausting, humbling, and completely worth it.

Nature became our entertainment: watching ants and dragonflies, listening to birds weave poetry through the forest, watching the wind dance across the lakes, and slipping into the water, feeling completely free and connected to the natural world.

The highlights? Making friends with a snapping turtle… and an unforgettable encounter with a bear.

After dropping our packs, we spotted a bear tearing apart a fallen tree for food. It looked up, started walking toward us… and we ran. I quickly discovered I’m apparently the person everyone has to outrun - I tripped and fell. Jody’s response? “We don’t have time for that!” 😂

I also learned it’s a good idea to have your bear banger loaded before you need it. Trying to do that with adrenaline pumping and shaking hands isn’t easy.

The hike out was bittersweet as smoke from the northern wildfires settled over the park, turning the sky hazy and the clouds an eerie yellow.

Every time I’m in nature, I’m reminded of what really matters: to fully live this life, love deeply in the present moment, and be mindful of how easily the mind creates stories about a future that hasn’t happened. So much of our suffering comes from living in imagined futures instead of the reality that’s right in front of us.

Until next year. 🤍🏕️

This will be an occasion I will never forget.

Seeing one of the greatest spiritual teachers of our time — at least in my opinion — felt deeply special.

I first read The Power of Now many years ago, and since then I’ve listened to countless talks and watched so many videos from Eckhart Tolle. But there is something profoundly different about receiving the teaching in person. The presence, the stillness, and aliveness … it touched something beyond words. I know I will carry this experience with me for the rest of my life.

Over the years, I’ve become disheartened by spiritual ego and performances of “awakening.” Which is why being in the presence of someone who feels truly authentic, connected and grounded in consciousness, steady, safe, and humble (qualities I admire in people and aspire to embody) was incredibly refreshing and moving.

And to make the evening even more meaningful — sharing it with my friend @diana_lavad and unexpectedly bumping into four students from different studios, felt like such a beautiful synchronicity.

A night I will never forget.💖

Spent yesterday searching for queen bees and tending the hives with Dave, the beekeeper. 🐝

We scanned through thousands of worker bees to find and mark the queen, while checking the health of the colonies.

The harmony and intelligence inside a hive are incredible to witness. Every bee serving a purpose. Every movement connected to the whole.

Nature keeps teaching the same lesson: approach life with calmness instead of force.

I used to own a business. I used to constantly strive for more. These days, my happy place is being connected to the earth — being present with what is, and communicating with plants and creatures.

This is why I started Yoga & the Bees — so more people can connect with nature, be outside, and witness the intelligence of these incredible beings. Check out dates in link in bio.

The bees have been teaching me…

Alongside teaching yoga full-time, I spend one day a week working at @backedbybees , and it’s quietly become one of the most meaningful parts of my life.

I worked with Dave, the beekeeper last summer.

I’ve been stung a few times.

- Once, when I got a little too confident.
- Once, when I moved from fear.

And each time… I learned.
The bees don’t respond well to rushing or reacting.
When I slow down, move with care, and stay present… there’s a kind of mutual respect.

And beyond that, they follow a rhythm we often forget.
They rest in the winter (or hunker down to vibrate to keep the queen bee warm).
They clear out what no longer serves.
They begin again.

No forcing. No rushing. Just trust.
And in the end, they make something sweet to be shared (honey).

This has been shaping how I live… and how I teach.

This summer, I’ll be offering Yoga and the Bees again - a space to reconnect with nature, your body, and a different pace of being.
