New Year’s Eve of Relaxation

Goodbye, the love of my life, my soul companion, my hiking buddy. I will love you forever and will miss you - until we meet again and you have to walk me home as well. Rihanna was not doing well the past month. She had torn a ligament in her knee, I had been hand feeding her and they found an aggressive form of cancer. Today, she was not doing well. I felt it coming this past week. My fondest memory of her was when we went for a walk and we saw a little girl crying outside. Rihanna walked up to her, licked her and sat down while the girl gave her a hug, comforting the little girl. This was Rihanna - pure love - spreading love and joy wherever she went. She LOVED people, and would French kiss many strangers - she got more action than I ever did 😂 She would often come into the studio with me because she could say hi to everyone! We went on many adventures and car rides. She loved the snow and it’s snowing today. She helped me through so many difficult times. THE POWER OF EXTRAVAGANT TENDERNESS It takes extravagant tenderness to come to our mat, to sit in meditation, to observe the thoughts (that are perhaps of self-hatred, shame, patterns), and to set up our Restorative poses or be in Yoga Nidra. But it’s all to move to a place of inner silence, stillness, spaciousness, and LOVE. The more we connect to this place (in Yoga Nidra, Restorative, meditation, moments of stillness in everyday life), the more we remember our truest nature (which is love) and the more we can share this love and extravagant tenderness with ourselves and others. Teaching yoga, holding space for people to rest and offering energy healing, emotions are bound to come up in the sessions. This is because we can easily distract ourselves with being busy and every day life. When we come to a place of stillness and the body rests, the mind will stop looking outside, and we begin to move inside. I have found that the more I can be with my own emotions, ok with whatever arises in the moment, the more comfortable I am with being with other's emotions. The more space and deep care I can give to myself, the greater my capacity to hold space for others. To tenderly take care of your heart, allows your heart to open to others. A sacred space in the sharing of humanness blooms. MAKING ROOM FOR SUMMER MAGIC. One of the best moments of my life was camping for the first time in my life this past summer. Being in silence, watching the sunrise, reading in the hammock and relaxing, bonding with awesome women, colouring in some questionable books (play), canoeing, rescuing 2 men, bonding with wildlife. This trip fed my soul! Loved every moment, even being swarmed by mosquitoes at sunset. 😂 Thank you @agatakaminski and @sitting_pretty_pet_grooming for taking me and teaching me.
